Good insulation is a key point of energy saving for Steam System. As per industrial norms,
any component/area which has temperature higher than 50 Deg C should be insulated for
protection of workers. While pipelines & equipment’s are insulated, the neglected areas of
insulation are valves, flange joints, expansion joints and other irregular surfaces. These
result to energy loss. Another reason for no insulation is maintenance & inspection works
which requires insulation that can be easily removed & recovered.
